Torsburgen

Östra, Gotland

Torsburgen, Kräklingbo: the best prehistoric fortification in the Nordic region covers an area of around 1.15 km2. Torsburgen is made up in part by natural cliffs, and has a defensive rampart 2 km long and 7 m high along the south side. The site is probably part of a larger defence system built in different stages, including during the Viking age.
